Our emergency grant service has unfortunately become a much more needed harsh reality for additional families visiting the Children’s Hospitals since the outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic - as parents have either unfortunately had their working hours reduced, or in some cases even lost their jobs.
These funds are now dangerously low, due to the COVID-19social distancing restrictions which have meant that our current events programme that should bring around £250,000 net in the next three months has been postponed. Without this income we cannot support children and families hat are at risk and unable to meet the cost of travel to hospital or daily food or if necessary, accommodation.
The ARCHIE Foundation received£15,000 to support at risk families with sick children attending NHS Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. Emergency assistance with food, travel to hospital, toiletries and children’s clothing helped take the pressure off 65 disadvantaged families at a very distressing time.
Thank you so much for approving our application and awarding us much-needed funds, to support our sick Children and their families here in Aberdeen, and in their hour of need. This will go a long way to easing the burden our families face, while their children are in hospital, receiving treatment. Innes, Head of Trusts & Foundations, The ARCHIE Foundation
